From his prison cell in Rome, the Apostle Paul wrote to young Timothy, “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman who needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.” (II Timothy 2:15 KJV)
Young Timothy needed to study God’s Word. Today, it is more important than ever that consistent Bible study is a part of our everyday life. Why? Many counterfeit Christians, false prophets, and teachers mishandle God’s Word for personal gain.
I like to write positive blogs. This seems a little negative. I am not to point out everyone I think or know to be a false teacher or prophet.
Today, my blog is just a simple, gentle reminder to encourage people to cultivate a life where they pray, fast, and read their Bible regularly. Easier said than done… If you do that, you can identify when a person’s actions or words do not align with God’s Word. The Holy Spirit will guide you.
In another verse, Paul writes about the rise of false teachers and prophets, “The Holy Spirit tells us in plain words that in the last days some people will turn away from the faith. They will listen to what is said about spirits and follow the teaching about demons.” (I Timothy 4:1)
With the Holy Spirit and your Bible as your guide, the Bible says, “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.” (John 16:13)
It is impossible to navigate successfully through life without the Holy Spirit.
