There were two women, Mary and Martha.
The Martha(s) of the world who are highly dedicated to ministry and service in the Kingdom of God must permit themselves to be Mary. For some, it is so easy to become a Martha. Jesus told Martha, “You are worried and upset about many things… (Luke 10:41) While Martha was stressed out, Mary recognized the value of sitting at the feet of Jesus.
Sometimes, you must prioritize your life and recognize what is essential and when it is just vital to be in the presence of God. The Bible says in his presence is the fullness of joy, and he will show you his paths – direction (Psalm 16:11); if there is joy in His presence, then you will find strength. Because the Bible says, “The JOY of the Lord is my strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10)
Mary CHOSE TO SIT AND HIS FEET AND LISTEN to what Jesus had to say. You cannot POUR or GIVE from an empty cup because you have focused too much on servicing people until you forgot to spend adequate time sitting at His feet… Jesus said, “Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken from her.” Take time to sit at his feet. If you are tired and weary from so much serving, just do what Jesus says in Matthew 11:28-29, and you will find rest.
“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest (renewal, blessed quiet) for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28-29 AMP)
When Jesus said, “Take My yoke,” He admires us to connect with Him by submitting and obeying his Word. When you submit to the Lord, you trust He is in control. You don’t have to carry the weight of a load of life because you are connected to the universe’s Creator, who can bear every burden. You can rest.
