The Power of God’s Word and Decree

Janetta Allis

When God created the world, He spoke, and the world came into existence.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made.” — John 1:1–3

God’s words carry power, weight, and authority.

Isaiah 55:11 declares:

“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”

When God speaks and makes a decree, it will come to pass. His Word always fulfills its purpose. Every divine utterance carries assignment and intention — it goes forth and prospers in the mission for which He sends it.

God does not lie.

“God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath He said, and shall He not do it? or hath He spoken, and shall He not make it good?” — Numbers 23:19

Job 22:28 reinforces this powerful truth:

“Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.”

This verse reveals a spiritual principle of declaration — inviting believers to align their hearts, minds, and words with God’s divine will.

“Decree a thing” means to declare or command something with faith and spiritual authority.

“It shall be established unto thee” reminds us that when our words align with God’s Word, they carry divine backing and produce tangible change.

“The light shall shine upon thy ways” symbolizes divine favor, guidance, and blessing that follow faith-filled speech.

Our words hold power when spoken under the authority of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, speak God’s promises over your life — promises of healing, protection, provision, and peace. You have authority in the name of Jesus and through the power of His blood.

Choose to align with what God says rather than what you see in the natural.
Choose faith over fear — and watch His Word prosper in your life.
