Strengthened Hands, Unshakable Focus

Janetta Allis / September 15, 2024

The book of Nehemiah has always held a special place in my heart. It is a powerful testament to what God can accomplish through an ordinary person who carries an extraordinary burden—one rooted in love, compassion, and a desire to honor God.

When Nehemiah heard that Jerusalem’s walls were broken down and its gates burned with fire, he didn’t rush into action or react impulsively. Instead, he wept, fasted, and prayed. He brought his burden before God first. What amazes me most is his patience—he didn’t move until God released him. For four months, he cried out night and day, waiting for divine direction.
