When Comparison Distorts Reality

Janetta Allis / January 10, 2026

A Reflection on Psalm 73

We live in a world where comparison is no longer occasional — it is constant.

Every day, we scroll past curated images of other people’s lives: beautiful homes, thriving businesses, luxury vacations, glowing families, and effortless success. We are shown highlight reels, not behind-the-scenes realities. We see outcomes, not the compromises. We see prosperity, not the price paid to obtain it.

And if we are not careful, what we see begins to move what we believe.

Our footing becomes unstable not because God has moved — but because our gaze has.

Foggy Mirrors

Janetta Allis / January 5, 2026

“For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then we will see face to face.”

— 1 Corinthians 13:12

Every time I open my Bible, I am reminded that God’s Word is not a book we ever finish — it is living, active, and continually unfolding. No matter how long we walk with Christ, there is always more to learn, more to unlearn, and more to understand. Revelation is not a destination; it is a relationship.

Paul reminds us that our present understanding is partial. We see truth, but not yet in its fullness — like looking into a mirror that

Sightless Vision

Janetta Allis / January 4, 2026

There are moments when the world feels unbearably loud with injustice. When violence is normal, corruption is rewarded, truth is twisted, and those who are trying to live righteously feel worn down by it all. In those moments, heaven can feel painfully quiet. We pray. We wait. We wonder. And sometimes, like the prophet Habakkuk, we ask the question we are almost afraid to say out loud:

Where are You, God?

Habakkuk lived in a time that feels eerily familiar. He looked around and saw violence in the streets, injustice in the courts, corruption in leadership, and the righteous being pushed aside while the wicked prospered. The law had lost its power. Justice was

When Faith Asks “Why?”

Janetta Allis / January 2, 2026

Reflections from Habakkuk 1

There are moments when the world feels unbearably heavy — when suffering seems louder than hope, injustice feels stronger than truth, and God’s silence feels more painful than our unanswered prayers. In those moments, our hearts do not form neat theological statements; they form questions. Honest ones. Urgent ones. Why, Lord? How long? Where are You in all of this?

It is in those moments that we discover something sacred: we feel safe asking hard questions when we trust the relationship. Children who are secure in their parents’ love are not afraid to ask “why” when something doesn’t make

Write the Vision — But Whose?

Trusting God’s Sovereignty Instead of Writing Our Own Story

It is that time of year again.

The end of the year is when people naturally pause to reflect on the past and look ahead to the future. We evaluate what we accomplished, what we didn’t, and what we hope to do differently next time. We plan. We reset. We dream again.

But for those of us who follow Christ — or as some prefer to say, are disciples of Christ — reflection goes deeper than goals and resolutions. It becomes a spiritual posture.

Some no longer like the word “Christian” because, sadly, in America, the label does

Build Bridges, Not Walls

Janetta Allis / November 30, 2025

There are a few truths I’m reminding myself of—truths that grow louder the more life teaches me:

1. Don’t build walls.
2. Build bridges.
3. When someone’s actions tempt you to burn down the bridge, pause. Remember: everyone fails, everyone missteps, and everyone has moments they wish they could take back. Build the bridge anyway.
4. And never burn a bridge—because God has a way of leading us down old paths at unexpected times.

Someone recently said to me, “You do not want to

Forgiveness: A Daily Journey

Janetta Allis / November 30, 2025

Today’s blog post is simple, honest, and from the heart. I want to share a piece of my life’s journey—specifically, my ongoing walk with forgiveness. Every believer has an area in their faith walk that stretches them. Some battle addiction. Others wrestle with jealousy, pride, or simply telling the truth. For me, the area that has consistently challenged me the most is forgiveness.

Ordered Steps, Quiet Confidence, and a Grateful Heart

Janetta Allis / November 21, 2025

Today, I paused to look back over my journey, and gratitude rose up in me like a wave. Scripture reminds us that “the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way” (Psalm 37:23). That means every step—every pause, push, detour, and decision—has been divinely aligned. God Himself has been guiding, steadying, and strengthening the path beneath my feet.

The Gate Is Closer Than You Think

Janetta Allis / November 11, 2025

💫 Introduction

There are moments when Scripture becomes a mirror—showing us not just the people of the past, but the posture of our own hearts.

Luke 16:19–31 tells the story of a rich man and a beggar named Lazarus. It’s more than a parable about wealth and poverty—it’s a call to awaken compassion, to notice the people waiting just outside our gates.

📖 Scripture: Luke 16:19–31 (NIV)

There was once a rich man who lived every day in comfort and luxury. Just outside his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus—hungry, hurting, and covered in sores. While the rich man feasted, Lazarus

The Power of God’s Word and Decree

Janetta Allis / October 31, 2025

When God created the world, He spoke, and the world came into existence.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made.” — John 1:1–3

God’s words carry power, weight, and authority.

The Place I Run To…

Janetta Allis / October 11, 2025

There is so much going on in the world today. Amid everything happening, many voices are expressing a wide range of opinions and political views. Additionally, there is no shortage of false prophets operating in Christian spaces, which adds to the confusion of the times. In a world that often feels chaotic and confusing, those who place their hope, confidence, and trust in the Lord do not have to feel lost. There is stability in the Lord Jesus Christ.

I love now the Amplified version of Ephesians 4:14 reads, “So that we are no longer children [spiritually immature], tossed back and forth [like ships on a stormy sea] and carried about by every wind of [shifting] doctrine, by the cunning and trickery of [unscrupulous] men, by the deceitful scheming of people ready

Promises Found in the Secret Place

Janetta Allis / October 11, 2025

When life feels unpredictable and the world shakes beneath your feet, Psalm 91 stands as a sanctuary of peace and promise. It is a declaration of faith and a reminder of God’s unwavering protection during difficult seasons.

During the pandemic, I witnessed many lives being lost, which intensified my fears, particularly for my family members who are doctors and nurses. Their profession required them to risk their own lives to save others, and personal protective equipment (PPE) became a crucial lifeline for them. No. Their FAITH in GOD was their lifeline. In God, we TRUST. Throughout that challenging time, I relied on prayer and placed my trust in God.

One family battled cancer, COVID-19, and heart issues, and I feared they would not make it. Yet, today, he is alive and

Strength for the Journey

Janetta Allis / March 10, 2025

“If you have raced with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses? If you stumble in safe country, how will you manage in the thickets by the Jordan?” (Jeremiah 12:5, NIV)

Jeremiah, the weeping prophet, mourned the devastation caused by Judah’s continual disobedience. In Jeremiah 11, God reminds the people of Judah of the promises and covenant He made with them. Like any agreement, there are specific terms that must be upheld.

To benefit from any agreement, you must adhere to its terms. God reminds Israel of the conditions of His covenant. Jeremiah 11:1-5 summarizes it: obey God and be blessed; disobey God and face judgment.   Even the prophet Isaiah wrote, “If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good

Is Peninnah Your Best Friend?

Janetta Allis / November 27, 2023

Although life is full of challenges and obstacles, the deliberate actions of others often become the fuel that ignites our passion to keep pursuing our purpose. I’ve seen this throughout my own life.

For me, it was my childhood pastor, who never let me return to college without laying hands on me in prayer. His wife would faithfully remind me, “Don’t leave town before seeing me and the Bishop.” I treasure memories of my mother lovingly making banana pudding—my favorite dessert—for me to take back to my dorm. During my high school and college years, my church youth director poured into me with encouragement and wisdom; today, she remains a lifelong friend.

A Desperate Cry - SOS

Janetta Allis / November 15, 2023

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you are desperately searching for an answer to a life-altering problem but can’t find one? Life can throw many challenges our way, and as women, we often face unique experiences and obstacles. The journey can sometimes feel overwhelming, whether navigating career choices, balancing family responsibilities, or overcoming personal struggles.

In the story of the woman with the “issue of blood,” we see her determination to seek healing despite societal barriers. Her faith in finding a solution led her to touch Jesus’ garment, and she was miraculously healed. This powerful narrative reminds us of women’s strength and resilience in adversity. (Mark 5:25-34 and Luke 8:43-48)

Doctrine of Inclusion? False

Janetta Allis / November 10, 2023

The gospel of inclusion is often compared to the discredited doctrine of Universalism. Universalism is a theological belief that all humans, regardless of their faith, will eventually be granted salvation and enter heaven.

The Gospel of Inclusion proposes that Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection paid the price for all humanity to have eternal life in heaven without needing repentance. It teaches that salvation is unconditional and doesn’t require faith in Jesus Christ as payment for sin.
It also suggests that all humanity is destined for heaven, regardless of whether they know it. According to the Gospel of Inclusion, only those who knowingly reject God’s grace after experiencing it will be separated from Him for eternity.

The gospel of inclusion runs counter

Doctrine Matters

Janetta Allis / November 10, 2023

“Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.”  (I Timothy 4:16) Doctrine, what you believe matters.

It is not an accident that against the backdrop of a rapidly escalating war between Israel and Hamas, there is a noticeable increase of false prophets and Bible teachers making their voices heard.

Every day, we are reminded of the “horrors of war” as it serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact that armed conflicts have on individuals and societies. It serves as a constant reminder of the immense human suffering, loss of life, physical and psychological trauma, and destruction that war brings. The heart-wrenching stories of love lost. I absolutely love October in Florida. The weather is beautiful - a welcome break from the scorching summer heat. It’s the ideal time for evening strolls along the beach or through the neighborhood. I often take walks to reflect and ponder. October is a great time for introspection as we near the end of the year. Have I achieved the goals I set out to accomplish at the start of the year? Have I made a positive impact? So many questions come to mind during this time of the year.

Each year presents fresh opportunities and challenges. If I had the pen in my hand while writing Chapter 2023, I would have written a beautiful story without many challenges or obstacles. Maybe I would have even won the lottery. Maybe not; Christians are not supposed to play the lottery. Or at

An Aroma that Touches God’s Heart

Janetta Allis / August 7, 2023

I’m unsure if it’s a fresh perspective of a Bible character or topic that most Christians have encountered numerous times or if it’s simply an improved awareness or understanding. However, it’s inevitable that whenever you delve into the Bible and study it, God reveals something new you haven’t seen before.

Noah was more than just a man who constructed an ark. According to the Bible, Noah was a man who walked faithfully with God and was considered righteous and blameless. His name means “rest and comfort,” and the Lord favored him.

God selected Noah to present the first atoning sacrifice as an act of worship. This sacrifice ultimately led to God’s repentance once again. He first repented when he saw that his creation had become wicked and felt

Walking in the Dark

Janetta Allis / August 7, 2023

Noah only learned about God’s plan to use a flood to destroy humanity just before he entered the ark for the last time. This was the only way for Noah to understand the purpose of building the ark. Despite not knowing God’s intentions, Noah obeyed the command to build the ark without question. This was all part of God’s plan to test Noah’s faith and obedience. The command to build a ship on dry land may have seemed strange to Noah, but he remained faithful and obedient.  (Gerhard Von Rad: A Commentary, 119-120)

I learned something new about Noah and his faith.  Most Christians know several scriptures about faith.  We walk by faith and not by sight.  Or we have heard preachers say, “Follow God even though you do not see Him or understand what he is

A Discerning Heart - Wisdom

Janetta Allis / June 23, 2023

Many people are familiar with the tale of King Solomon from the Old Testament. He was a wise leader who asked God for guidance, and God was pleased that he did not request the demise of his foes, riches, or renown. As a result, God bestowed upon him great riches and honor.

Well, that is the short Sunday school summary of this story.  Solomon did not just ask for wisdom. It is a little deeper.

Giants Living In Your Territory

Janetta Allis / June 19, 2023

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”  (Ephesians 6:12)

A Promise, Then A Problem

Moses sent twelve spies into the land of Canaan to report on the land and its habitants.  Finally, the children of Israel were on the verge of claiming their promised territory.  After leaving Egypt, they wandered in the desert for approximately 40 years. Now, they have an opportunity to see the Promise Land.

Imagine their anticipation and excitement.  Maybe, they thought God would allow them to walk into the Promise Land without a fight.
